Trade Support / Production Engineer – Proprietary Trading Firm

If you’ve had first-hand experience of working in the trading domain previously, you’ll know how exhilarating, fast-paced (and lucrative) it can be. What if you worked in the space in a past life, but for whatever reason you opted to go in a different direction and have always wondered “what if?” –Would you be happier, feel more accomplished in your day to day – who else would you have met and learned from along the way?

Wonder no more… If you’re interested in jumping back into the industry feet first, this is for you. One of our US prop-trading clients has recently got their boots firmly on the ground in Amsterdam and are building out their core teams. This opportunity is to become part of the Trade Support team and offers the chance to work in a start-up environment but for a highly regarded & well-established player.

As a key member of the production engineering team, you will play a crucial role in optimizing and streamlining trading processes. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of systems and applications.

Your responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with development, research, and trading teams, working across functions to use and improve tools that accelerate the deployment of cutting-edge products.
  • Swiftly troubleshoot and resolve issues in real time, minimize any impact on trading operations.
  • Utilize your scripting expertise to work with configuration files, databases, and logs, streamlining processes and ensuring seamless operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement by expanding and enhancing existing processes, pipelines, and systems related to trading research, development, deployment, configuration management, and monitoring.

Essential skills:

  • Scripting experience – Python & BASH
  • Solid understanding of Linux (threading, memory management), networking (TCP and UDP), and complete software lifecycle processes
  • Demonstrated history of working with SQL, Ansible, and some experience of data administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field - 2 yrs + experience

Nice to have:

  • Experience with C++
  • Some understanding of low-latency networking & associated technologies

Although strong profiles from direct competitors will {of course} be considered, the non-compete agreements in Amsterdam can often be lengthy and difficult to navigate. As such, candidates with a background of working in trading (not subject to any non-compete), or from outside the domain but with strong, broad technical knowledge may take precedence here.
